What documentation is needed for admission?
On the day of admission, the patient should bring:
- Health insurance card and Social Security Number;
- ID;
- GP’s prescription;
- The primary care physician must fill out and give the “Attachment E” to the patient or family members to allow admission;
- Health records related to the condition being admitted with special attention to cardiovascular evaluations performed (specialist examinations, discharge letters from previous hospitalizations, ECGs, echocardiograms, EchoColodoppler-TSA, coronarography, X-rays, blood chemistry tests etc.);
- Health records related to other medical conditions;
- Documentation of current medical therapy performed and medication taken regularly.
How to apply for a Certificate of Hospitalization?
During the entire duration of hospitalization, it is possible to request the certificate of hospitalization, showing the date and time of hospitalization, while the certificate of hospitalization, presenting the time and day of discharge can be delivered only at the end of hospitalization.
Under no circumstances will the reason for hospitalization be indicated on such certificates, issued for the purposes permitted by law, given the current Privacy Act.

What are the preoperative examinations?
Routine preoperative examinations include:
- Blood chemistry tests and blood group determination;
- Radiography;
- Electrocardiogram;
- Cardiological examination;
- Anesthesiological examination.
How long does a hospitalization last?
The average length of stay in the different discipline areas is as follows:
- 7-15 days in orthopedic area;
- 30-60 days in the rehabilitation area;
- 5-8 days in the medical area.
However, the length of hospitalization may vary depending on the need for further investigations, the patient’s general condition, and the type of surgery to be performed.
For minor diseases, the most suitable care setting is day hospital for medical areas and day surgery for surgical areas.
What are the visiting hours?
Visiting hours for inpatients are set by the Medical Directorate.
Access is allowed only by reservation, which will be arranged with the nursing coordinators of the departments.
In order to provide spaces for socializing and maintaining family relationships, while respecting the necessary quiet during medical visits and patient rest periods, one person per patient is allowed to enter the wards from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. for 15 minutes, unless otherwise stipulated by the Health Department.
