Who we are
Since 1966, the SANTABARBARA HOSPITAL has been caring for its patients within a state-of-the-art facility where the patient’s well-being and health are always at the center.
The SANTABARBARA HOSPITAL, also plays a prominent role within the regional health care landscape, in terms of quality and quantity.
Throughout these years, we have continued to care for patients by devoting every effort to improve our care capabilities and diagnostic accuracy.
We have done all this guided by principles and values that guide our work and our daily living: we believe in the centrality of the person and life, we believe that all avoidable pain should be prevented and eliminated, we believe that the good of health is best protected by integration, complementarity and mutual recognition between public and private health services.

The Structure
SANTABARBARA HOSPITAL is a hospital under private law, accredited with the National Health Service by the decree of the Regional Health Department of Nov. 30, 2007 published in GURS No. 59 of Dec. 21, 2007 .
The facility provides inpatient, diagnostic, outpatient and long-term care (RSA) services.
SANTABARBARA HOSPITAL is part of the Macchitella urban settlement in Gela, conceived by ENI in the 1960s.
The settlement, the result of Enrico Mattei‘s vision, was once intended to house workers from the petrochemical hub.
In the 1970s, the religious order that ran the Santabarbara Clinic moved to Africa on a mission and, at the same time, a group of doctors from different parts of Sicily took up the challenge of running a small ENI hospital hundreds of kilometers away.
Thus was born the SO.GE.SA.
